Well, I finally succumbed to the pressure! I have long resisted the creation of a photoblog mostly due to time constraints. I already have a personal family blog, a business website which I update every month with new photos and a small business to run and operate. Oh yeah, and a few young kids too! :)
I really didn't think I could take on yet another "project" but I've decided that rather than constantly updating my website (which is getting increasingly difficult to do because adding a new picture means replacing an old one and I'm far too attached to my images to be able to remove any of them at this point!) I will simply post my favorites from my recent photo shoots on this blog instead. So I'm not adding more work (which would=less sleep!) as much as I'm creating a different outlet for posting my work. That said, my business website will probably not see as many frequent changes now that the blog is up and running. The business website is still a great place to go to, especially since this blog is virtually empty right now, in order to see a large variety of my work and get a good sense as to my style and approach to photography.
I also want to explain the name of this blog. The art of photography is commonly referred to as "painting with light" which is based on the latin origins of the actual word Photography. So my blog name is a play on that expression.
Aside from this initial post I don't anticipate there being too much "reading" to do when you check in here, mostly just photos. Perhaps I'll find the time to include some info about the shoot and/or pointers. I will also be using this blog as a way for me to let all my clients know about stuff that is happening with my business, share news about gallery shows or exhibits, as well as include links to places where my images have been used. My most recent published work was the COVER of a nationally distributed magazine.
I hope this blog helps keep my clients connected to what I've been up to, recent trends in the photographic industry (which I am always keeping tabs on) and interesting ideas or locations for shoots.
I've enabled the comments section so please feel free to post any comments and I promise to read them all and respond!
Lastly, a very big thank you to all of you who have been so instrumental in my business going from a tiny part-part-part time job nearly 3 years ago to the pretty much 40 hrs/week portrait photography/ editing/ stock business opportunity that I have become so incredibly passionate about. THANKS!
My first series of images will be from an engagement photo shoot I did 2 days ago. Kendra and James had one of their first dates at Natural Bridges Beach so it was only fitting that we go there for their engagement photos. Kendra had the most sparkling smile and they were both very comfortable in front of the camera so they made it pretty easy for me! Congratulations you two!
I ended up with nearly 100 images form their shoot (of EACH color and bw) so it was a major challenge to just pick these favorites. They were all pretty rockin'!
