Due to an unexpected lull in my workload I'm trying to catch up on LIFE in general and also deal with the myriad of things on my to do list. The next few months, in addition to being my busiest time of the year, are also a time of huge transition for me and the kids and things are just pretty much going to be CRAZY. So, I'm trying to complete any commitments I've made, tie up loose ends, knowing I won't have time for it later, and just trying to manage my general incessant, non stop, ever mounting, to do list.
In between all of this I'm also trying to catch a few quiet 1 on 1 moments with my kids. School starts in 20 days (not that I'm counting or anything.....) and our summer has been stressful and chaotic so I'm actually looking forward to the comfort that comes with a regular routine and the kids being back at their wonderful school where they have their support system in place with wonderful teachers, staff and friends.
I had two last minute cancelled shoots this week so I filled the time allotted to the first one with a little mini shoot with Ellie instead. I was going to do the second one today to fill the second cancelled shoot but Ellie currently has a fever of 103 (her second day of fevers) and is down for the count. She slept on my chest for 2 hrs today just like when she was a newborn. That girl usually NEVER stops moving so I KNOW she's sick when she's that lethargic... Poor little boo.
I was finally able to extricate myself from underneath her and she is vegging in front of a TV program so I'm quickly busting out this post before heading into the kitchen to try to make something she'll eat since she has barely eaten in 2 days. It's so hard to have your kids be sick.... :(
In this little mini shoot, Ellie is wearing a new dress by my friend Julie over at ZOZOBUGBABY. The dress is called the Smoky Sky and it's soooooo comfy!!! Ellie didn't want to take it off. She loved the flowy, twirl-a-bility of it!
Sadly, the beach was a foggy, overcast mess so the lighting conditions were deplorable but I tried to work with it as best I could. Truly, overcast weather is my LEAST favorite lighting to work with. The lack of directionality, tone, color and warmth just depresses me.... So BLAH! But, I used some flash and tried to make the most of it. Regardless, Ellie and I had a nice time hanging out, and reminiscing because we had not done a shoot together in AGES. She wasn't feeling so hot that day and now I know why because her fever kicked in much later that night so her usual over the top SPUNK is missing. But she still powered through like the trooper and professional that she is! :)
