I know, I know, it's been ages! I just got off crutches a few days ago and I'm still in intensive Physical Therapy and hobbling about in a special "boot" device. I haven't had a shoot in 4 weeks and I'm still pretty disabled by this ankle injury. Turns out, not only did I rupture my bursa sac AND get an avulsion fracture but I also tore all the ligaments in my foot and ankle resulting in a Grade 3 sprain and a foot that was purple for the better part of 4 weeks..... UGH. So, it's pretty much a mess. And I'm really frustrated at being so incapacitated.
But, I had an opportunity to do a short and easy commercial shoot for my long time brilliant friend Jayme of Lillipops Designs for a dress that Ellie was SUPER jazzed about modeling and seeing as Ellie needs very little direction from me and she and I have been a photog/model team since she was 2 years old, I knew I could take on this task. I was surprised at how hard it was for me to juggle the equipment and get around with the hobbling and pain but I powered through it and I'm so glad I did because we got some amazing shots! It's all Ellie's doing really. That girl was MEANT to be in front of the camera. Children fall into 1 of 3 categories when it comes to the camera. There are kids who are very uncomfortable in front of the camera, there are kids who are at ease in front of the camera and then there are kids who WORK the camera. Ellie falls in that last category. She's absolutely a pro at this gig and we had a blast doing the shoot with our little magic that we do, she and I. Lots of laughter, lots of silly faces and lots of fabulous images. I love the little triptych sequences because you can get a glimpse into the general vibe during our shoots. That child of mine is an absolute RIOT. Half the time she is laughing herself silly because she let out some monstrous burp. That little delicate flower can burp like a 200 lb man. It's disgusting and endearing all at the same time. :)
I digress.... This dress is INSANE. Seriously. One of my all time favorite dresses that I've shot. The colors are marvelous and HELLO?!?! It's an instagram dress. I mean, really, what more do you need people!?!?! The link to check out the dress is HERE.
